Letter From the Co-Chairs

Dear Members,

In this year of what undoubtedly seems like the greatest challenges yet for our community, we’re renewed and energized as we head into July, the month capped by our biggest annual event, the Transgender Law Institute. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you in Los Angeles. Not only is TLI an opportunity to refresh knowledge about what’s working and what’s not, it’s the premiere gathering of TGNC attorneys and allies in the legal profession, an event which is returning to an in person format at just the right time.

Remembering that the first job of any leader is to find and train their successor, we’ve focused on building our mentorship program, which is not just in full swing, it’s operating with record participation levels. We’re all grateful for your participation in the mentorship effort, which helps both newly admitted attorneys and students preparing to enter the legal profession. If you’d like to participate as a mentor or mentee in the future, you can sign up here.

Our advocacy work is also continuing. The NTBA has signed on to amicus briefs and offered comments in rule making proceedings across the nation, as we do what we can to protect our community against state level legislative initiatives that are both intrusive and bigoted. There’s lots to do – and we’re delighted that you’ve joined us in the fight.
