National LGBTQ+ Bar Association Judicial Nomination Support

National LGBTQ+ Bar Association Judicial Nomination Support

The National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, an official affiliate of the American Bar Association, is the largest professional association for LGBTQ+ attorneys, judges, law students, and legal professionals in the United States and is actively involved in promoting justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBTQ+ community in all its diversity. As such, we have a process by which LGBTQ+ individuals interested in judicial nominations can seek a letter of support from us.  We believe appointments of such individuals will help address the dearth of LGBTQ+ diversity in the federal, state, and local courts throughout the United States. This diversity is needed to ensure that our courts adequately reflect the diversity of the communities in which they sit.To seek judicial nomination support from the LGBTQ+ Bar, please submit the following:

  • A letter of request with information about the position being sought and general information about the candidate; and,
  • A current resume of the candidate.

Candidates must be LGBTQ+ and seeking nomination to the bench (or support for a nomination that has occurred) – we cannot provide letters for candidates seeking elected positions. Please send all inquiries to Eric Lesh at judicialnominations@lgbtqbar.org; we will contact you to set up an interview with our Committee.
