Staff Attorney: Gender Equality Law Center

The Gender Equality Law Center (“GELC”) is a not for profit law firm whose mission is to advocate for laws and policies that will breakdown barriers to equal opportunities based on gender-based discrimination, including on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/ gender expression. GELC represents primarily low wage individuals in gender discrimination cases, with a concentration in workplace and school place matters, both before administrative agencies and in court. DESCRIPTION

The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced litigator and advocate to serve as a Special Counsel focused on advancing LGBTQIA rights. This position will report to the Civil Rights Bureau Chief and will be located at the New York City office.

The Special Counsel will collaborate with teams across OAG to analyze federal policy and lead responses to federal actions that threaten LGBTQIA people and communities; combat discrimination against LGBTQIA New Yorkers in education, healthcare, public accommodations, housing, employment, and other contexts using federal, state, and local laws; enhance relationships with organizations serving LGBTQIA communities; and engage in and supervise affirmative and defensive litigation in federal and state courts.

Supervising Attorney: Rights Behind Bars

Rights Behind Bars represents incarcerated people in prisons, jails, and immigration detention centers in lawsuits challenging their conditions of confinement. We have two main practice areas. We seek an Assistant Federal Defender to join our office in December 2024. The position primarily involves legal representation of indigent persons accused of federal crimes in the United States District Court. INDEMNIZACIÓN

Base salary range between $96,200 and $110,200, based on a fixed scale and grounded on years of experience. Founded in 2003, the Transgender Legal Defense & Educational Fund (TLDEF) is a national organization committed to advancing justice and equity for transgender and non-binary people through impact litigation, direct legal services, advocacy, and public education. TLDEF has sued counties in New York and Florida for violence against trans people in jails. The newly created Chief Strategic Programs Officer plays a critical role in the organization’s impact. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual will serve as the primary leader of A4TE’s policy and legal work. Founded in 2003, the Transgender Legal Defense & Educational Fund (TLDEF) is a national organization committed to advancing justice and equity for transgender and non-binary people through impact litigation, direct legal services, advocacy, and public education. TLDEF’s Legal Programs Department currently includes the Impact Litigation Project, Name Change Project, and Trans Health Project.

TLDEF has sued counties in New York and Florida for violence against trans people in jails. We’ve won federal lawsuits in Georgia and North Carolina seeking the removal of transgender-related exclusions in employee health care plans. We are actively partnering with grassroots leaders and organizations in Texas and other states to push back against the attacks on transgender young people. Last year alone, we assisted over 500 low-income trans people in name changes. And we’re just getting started.

In this newly created position, the General Counsel (GC) will serve as the primary legal advisor for Advocates for Trans Equality (the newly-created merged organization formed by the National Center for Trans Equality and Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund), providing guidance and oversight on all legal and compliance matters. Additional client needs at each site will be addressed by referring community members to other Legal Services Department projects, clinics, pro-se workshops, volunteer attorneys, and external service providers. Inner City Law Center (ICLC) - Abogado director, Proyecto de veteranos sin hogar

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) busca un abogado dinámico y gerente para dirigir un equipo de abogados y personal de apoyo que proporciona servicios legales de alta calidad para ayudar a los veteranos sin hogar con discapacidades a acceder a beneficios críticos de apoyo a los ingresos. East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) - Director - Salud y Bienestar

El East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) se complace en contratar a un Director de Programa para dirigir el trabajo de servicios legales directos del Programa de Salud y Bienestar y la promoción de políticas centradas en la equidad en salud y los determinantes sociales de los malos resultados de salud que afectan a las comunidades históricamente excluidas y desatendidas en el Condado de Alameda.

El Director apoyará a un equipo de 5 defensores en la prestación de servicios jurídicos integrales a los clientes remitidos a través de varias asociaciones médico-legales y comunitarias de larga data. El Director también colaborará con el equipo para desarrollar y perseguir iniciativas políticas alineadas con la Plataforma Centrada en las Mujeres de Color del EBCLC. Bajo la supervisión del codirector adjunto del EBCLC, el director del programa supervisa a tres abogados, un asistente jurídico y un coordinador del programa, y ayuda a formar y supervisar a los estudiantes de derecho como parte del programa clínico del EBCLC.

INDEMNIZACIÓN

El salario inicial para este puesto exento es de $93.000 - $103.000, en función de la fecha de graduación en Derecho, según la escala salarial del EBCLC.

Los Angeles LGBT Center's está contratando a un Abogado Gerente de Clínicas Legales Comunitarias.

Durante las horas semanales fijas de oficina de las clínicas jurídicas y de atención sin cita previa en cada una de las 5 sedes del Centro mencionadas anteriormente, el Abogado Gestor de las Clínicas Jurídicas Comunitarias se reunirá con los miembros de la comunidad que busquen servicios jurídicos directos. El abogado gestor ofrecerá servicios de admisión y/o consulta; identificará y clasificará los problemas jurídicos y otros problemas urgentes; responderá a preguntas jurídicas; ayudará a los miembros de la comunidad a acceder a otros proyectos del Departamento de Servicios Jurídicos, clínicas, talleres pro-se y abogados voluntarios; y remitirá a otros proveedores de servicios dentro y fuera del Centro.

El Abogado Gerente también se encargará de la supervisión directa y el desarrollo de la oficina de la clínica legal y las horas sin cita previa en cada lugar y de forma remota, centrándose en el desarrollo de una mayor capacidad para proporcionar servicios legales adicionales que respondan directamente a las necesidades actuales de la comunidad en cada sitio. Las colaboraciones importantes incluyen el trabajo con el Director de Operaciones de Servicios Jurídicos, que asignará 40 % de su tiempo para ayudar al Director de Abogados; el Director de Servicios Jurídicos, que proporcionará supervisión y tutoría continuas; el personal de cada proyecto, que tendrá horas designadas en las que proporcionará experiencia de guardia; y el Departamento de Recursos de Voluntariado.

La Coalition For The Homeless se encuentra actualmente en el proceso de aumentar y reestructurar su Departamento de Defensa y reconstruir su liderazgo. Por ello, buscan a una persona apasionada y comprometida para trabajar en estrecha colaboración con otros altos cargos como Director Ejecutivo Adjunto de Defensa (DEDA).

El DEDA será responsable de las operaciones de defensa de La Coalición tanto a nivel estatal como local, incluidos los litigios de impacto, el seguimiento de los refugios, el análisis de políticas, los grupos de presión, la organización, la educación pública, la estrategia y las relaciones con los medios de comunicación. El candidato adecuado tendrá un mínimo de diez años de responsabilidad progresivamente mayor en defensa, organización, campañas, gobierno, relaciones con los medios de comunicación y/o experiencia en servicios directos relacionados con las personas sin hogar, la vivienda, la pobreza, las prestaciones públicas o cuestiones afines.
