To the NTBA Community:
We’ve been doing a lot of growing here in the NTBA. We have welcomed new members to our Board, we have been exploring new ways we can support trans law students, we’ll be collaborating with others to host town halls to discuss trans rights (see below), and we’re preparing a unique experience for this year’s Trans Law Institute at the Lavender Law Conference.
We can’t do any of this without your support and trust. We are doing our best to serve each of you in all of the ways we know how. Please reach out to us if you ever have ideas for ways we can do better.
If (like us) you need something to look forward to amidst the craze of this year, let it be some of these offerings for our time together at TLI. This year, our sessions are focused on emboldening our community with skills and perspectives that will allow us to uphold and uplift the entire trans community in the years to come. These events will be happening on the morning of August 7:
-A discussion on “Navigating the Legal Profession” with K. M. Bell, Lydia Brown, Bryanna Jenkins, Al Littlejohn, and Mia Perez
-A digital privacy workshop aimed at “Protecting Your People” with Andy Izenson and others.
-A teach-in on “Prison and Reentry While Trans” with D Dangaran, Dee Farmer, and Ky Peterson
We’ll also have opportunities in the afternoon (during the Career Fair) for intergroup dialogues based on our career sectors and our intersectional identities.
Please register for Lavender Law and indicate your interest in TLI! And please support us if you or your firm is able to—we’re only able to bring together such awesome speakers with assistance from our generous sponsors.
Onward,
D y Rafael
